I love to teach the Bible... to find ways to help people get in touch with truth & grace in ways that impact their lives. (That's why I do what I do!) But there's a problem if I'm the primary guy in that role - if a big chunk of Scripture intake & application for the folks here at NewLife is dependent on me.
You see, it wasn't designed to work that way - God gave the Bible not so it could reside in the libraries of preachers & professors. He didn't give us His word so we could have impressive looking tomes to set on our coffee tables and note our genealogy in the flyleaf.
He gave us the Bible so we could:
- love the Word
- learn the Word AND
- live the Word
And that's what we're going to be doing in February & March with the 40 Days in the Word campaign. Along with 3000+ other churches around the world, we here at NewLife are going to work together to teach adults, youth & kids how to fish for themselves.
The kickoff Sunday is (humorously) Super Bowl Sunday - February 5th. (No, it won't interfere with the game.) You will not want to miss that Sunday morning as we answer the questions:
- why should I build my life on the Bible?
- how I can be set free?
Start praying for this campaign... start planning to participate... start looking forward to what God is going to do in our church & in your life!
